(ah-hem) there is journey waiting...

"You take your life in your own hands, and what happens?A terrible thing: no one to blame."
-Erica Jong

In short—this is a blog.

In length, this is a blog about my pursuits to achieve my own dream while at the same time discovering whether or not the "American Dream" truly does still exist--and if it does…at what cost?

I must first say (to give credit where it is due) that the idea for this blog was born after getting through a few required readings a professor had assigned; Nickel & Dimed" and "Scratch Beginnings". Both books tackled the same idea as their authors embarked on their own journeys to see if “making it” in America was possible when you started off at the bottom. When I say bottom, I mean virtually homeless.

Unsurprisingly, I’m not brave enough to start off on the streets. Yet since reading those books I’ve been itching to put the “dream” to the test. I figured there would be only one fair match to their challenges that would still be relevant to my desired future: Can I, a 19 year old student, make it in the entertainment industry with virtually no connections?

No, I'm not talking about becoming an overnight youtube sensation. I'm talking about a real sustainable concrete career, based on the sheer will power and drive of one person to make it in the MOST cutthroat industry.

If I was to tell you now what I hope to achieve with this project, I could honestly say I wouldn’t have a clue. What I can say is there has been some nagging voice inside my head with the throbbing sound of" BLOG BLOG BLOG" that has near made me deaf to any other notions. So here I am humbly at the feet of all my SUPERblog predecessors...

…and I figure there is no better time to start this journey then now. I mean reality TV is the food of choice and a good chunk of the population is going goo-goo for anything that sucks blood, so the odds of me coming out successful can’t be too bad—right?

I’ve thought about most of the outcomes that this project could have, and I’ve come to this conclusion: Whether you’re with or against me I will still have something to say, and even if I sweat my way to the top or take the greatest tumble down--there will still remain a few sparse dreams in the AM to be chased.

I hope this blog will become a commonplace because the reality is that we’ve all got a few things to run after. With that said, be a part of the discussions, voice your opinion, and share you stories. Become a follower of Dreams in the AM and expect the unexpected: which is logically TBA, and the expected: blog narcissism (...come on give me a break--where else can you blab on about your thoughts uncensored and unhindered for the world to see?).

See you at the top :)
